Speaking the Truth in Love

Speaking the Truth in Love

Do You Feel Alone?

Feeling alone is a common occurrence to man. Loneliness is a cause of the depression and sadness of many in our world today. The question we would ask you tonight is, “Do You Feel Alone?” We have some Biblical examples of people who felt alone.

NoahNo one listened except his wife, sons, and their wives (1 Peter 3:202 Peter 2:5)

ElijahHe thought he was the only one following God (1 Kings 19:11-18)

JobHis friends and family turned on him (Job 19:13-20)

David: He felt totally alone (Psalm 22:1-18)

Paul: In Athens he waited by himself among the idols (Acts 17:16-17). At one point all forsook him (2 Timothy 4:16).

*In these examples, these men felt as if they were alone but they really were not.

Notice 2 Timothy 4:17-18 and Acts 17:26-28

Jesus is the only one truly left totally alone: Let us look at a few verses about this:

John 17:5Philippians 2:5-8 – Jesus separated Himself from Heaven for you and I

Luke 22:41-42 – Jesus was willing to be totally alone because that was the Father’s will

Mark 15:33-39 – Jesus cried out as He was being separated from God for you and I. It was much more than dieing physically. He was also in torment, being separated from the Father.

Isaiah 53:4-6, 11-12 – Jesus bore all our iniquities

2 Corinthians 5:21 – Jesus became sin for you and I

Jesus was totally separated from God. Imagine the Creator of the Universe, being in Heaven with the Father, and giving that up to become a human sacrifice for all mankind’s sin, and having to be separated from that same loving Father. What tremendous love He has shown for you and me! Notice the words to Song 452 “Night With Ebon Pinion”

Unfortunately there are many people who have lots of friends in the world but are separated from God because of their sins (Isaiah 59:1-2). You may not feel alone, but without God by your side, you are totally alone with your sins. Being a child of God brings many blessings including Jesus Christ at your side through thick and thin (Hebrews 13:5-6Romans 8:31-38Psalm 23). It is interesting that Psalm 23 follows Psalm 22. In Psalm 22 we see the loneliness that David felt and then he remembers in Psalm 23 that when the Lord is his Shepherd, he is never alone!

Notice the words to a Song 488 from Sacred Selections called “Never Alone”

There is only one who that can separate you from God and His Son. That person is you! Notice Acts 13:46. These rejected the Word of God and judged themselves unworthy of eternal life!

Why do you want to separate yourself anymore from God? Repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins and be united with God (Matthew 28:18-20). Then you will never need to worry about being alone again. And then for eternity you will be able to enjoy the company of God and His children. We encourage you to become a Christian this very night. We also hope to see you next time on “Speaking The Truth In Love”.
