The Power of “The Word of God”

1. Creation

• Day 1 of Creation (Genesis 1:1-5)
• Day 2 of Creation (Genesis 1:6-8)
• The earth was made for us (Isaiah 45:18)
• Day 3 of Creation (Genesis 1:9-13)
• Day 4 of Creation (Genesis 1:14-19)
• Day 5 of Creation (Genesis 1:20-23)
• Day 6 of Creation (Genesis 1:24-25, 26-31)
• Day 7 of Creation (Genesis 2:1-2)

2. God’s Word, including Jesus, spoke all into existence (Psalm 33:6-9, John 1:1-5, Hebrews 1:1-2)

3. The Flood of Noah (Genesis 7:11-16, 8:1-3)

4. God’s promise after the Flood (Genesis 9:12-16)

5. The control of this world is by God’s Word (Psalm 104:5-9)

6. The Word of God determines what type of people his disciples should be (2 Peter 3:1-9, 3:10-14)

7. God’s Word determines the thoughts and intent of hearts (Hebrews 4:8-16)

8. Conclusion

• God’s Word is the power of God to Salvation (Romans 1:16, Ephesians 5:25-27)
• God’s Word connects the saving of 8 souls in the Flood to baptism today (1 Peter 3:19-22)
