MATTHEW CHAPTER 20
1. What idea is Jesus continuing with here in chapter 20 that we ended with in chapter 19? How does Jesus illustrate this idea? Please note & be prepared to discuss Jesus’ illustration.
2. (vv.17-19) What new details does Jesus include in this prediction of His death and resurrection?
3. (vv. 20-28) What question does the mother of James and John ask Jesus? How does He respond? What is the ‘cup’ and ‘baptism’ that Jesus is referring to? How will James and John share in those? What is required for one to be great in the kingdom?
4. (v. 28) Be prepared to explain what the ransom is that Jesus is referring to?
5. (vv. 29-34) Are there any differences from other accounts of this healing in the other Gospels? If so, explain what might have caused these different details? What is significant about the 2 blind men calling Jesus the ‘Son of David’?
