MATTHEW CHAPTER 16
1. (vv.1-4) Explain the response of Jesus to the Pharisee’s and Sadducee’s request for a sign. What point is He making about them being able to understand the weather, and what is the sign of Jonah?
2. (vv. 5-12) Did the disciples understand, at first, what Jesus meant by “beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?” What did they think He meant, and what was the true meaning?
3. (vv. 13-20) Who were men thinking that Jesus was? Who did Peter think He was? What was so significant about this event? How has the world misused Jesus’ reply in vv. 17-19?
4. (vv. 21-23) What was the problem with Peter’s reaction to what Jesus was foretelling them about?
5. (vv.24-27) What must we be willing to give up for Christ? What will help us achieve the goal of following Him faithfully?
6. (v. 28) What false teaching does this verse used in its proper context disprove?
