PART 3 OF 4
Abortion
The world has tried to change the meaning of the murder of the innocent to a word that seems less offensive. Evil rulers have sanctioned the murder of babies before. In the time when Moses was born (Exodus 1:15-22, Acts 7:17-19) and in the time of Jesus (Matthew 2:13-20). It may sooth some consciences to call something abortion, but it does not change the fact that innocent life is done away with (Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:39-45). It is ironic to me that many who are “pro-abortion” or “pro-choice” are also the ones who are the most outraged when animals are mistreated or killed needlessly. Morals have been perverted when society values the life of animals equally with the life of humans.
Separation of Church and State
Today most governments want God and Jesus out of the school environment claiming that the founding fathers of our country wanted it that way. However, in the generation before mine, many schools began the day by reading scripture from the Bible. What the phrase “Separation of Church and State” should mean to us is Christian family responsibility (Deuteronomy 6:1-9, Ephesians 6:4, Titus 2:1-8). God has always emphasized teaching the younger by parents, grandparents, and our spiritual family.
Freedom of Speech
We are blessed by God to live in a country where we have the freedom of speech. No one knows how long this right will be granted to us, but right now we possess it. In the time of the apostles citizens did not always have this right. Yet, even when told to stop speaking, God expected His children to opening and publicly teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:29-30, 5:17-21, 27-32, 40-42, 8:1-4). If the apostles and disciples were expected to teach and preach when they did not have freedom of speech, how much more should we be spreading the gospel today when we have the right of freedom of speech! Why don’t we use this liberty of speech more and view every day as an open door of opportunity (1 Corinthians 16:9)? We all need to use the freedoms we have been blessed with to influence our friends and neighbors to the Lord!
A freedom that God gives to any man or woman on the face of the earth, no matter what government is in charge, is the freedom to choose whether to follow Him (Acts 17:29-31,
